Circulation - Student Workers : Circulation Checklist

Circulation Checklist

The Morning Shift (8am - 12pm) 

  • Clock in on Workday
  • Check in with your supervisors, Angela or Nicole. See if there are any projects or tasks you can help with. 
  • Check printers on the upper and main levels. Check student supplies - staplers, scrap paper, and pencils - to see if refills are needed. See if the staplers are working properly. 
  • See that student work areas are tidy and ready for use : push in chairs, wipe down desks and/or remove trash. 
  • Do a walk-through of the upper and main levels at least once during your shift. It is good to see what's going on in the library, as well as take a break and exercise a bit. Report any comments, concerns or incidents to your supervisor.

Tasks 

  • Check in / out materials. When checking in materials, please shelve according to the chart below: 

When checking out materials, make sure to desensitize the item. 

  • Manage Group Study Reservations as needed. Check in / out Group Study Room keys. 
  • Aid patrons in their search for books and library materials. 
  • Shelve books. Notify supervisors when shelving and where you will be shelving. New student shelving will need to be checked for accuracy. 

Mail Run: Between 11am - 12pm, please get the library mail from the Mail Center in the Jean Center. Notify your supervisor that you are heading out. 

  • Wipe down and tidy area before you leave to ensure a clean workspace for the incoming student worker. Check out with your supervisor prior to leaving. Have a great day! 

The Afternoon and Evening Shifts (12pm - 4pm, 4pm - close) 

  • Clock in on Workday
  • Check in with your supervisors. 
  • See if there are any projects or tasks you can help with.
