Description

This workshop will provide librarians an opportunity to re-engage with the basics of Reference Services by reading about current best practices, reflecting and discussing prior experiences, and diving deeply into information resources to answer questions.

Group Norms

"Norms are shared agreements about how a group will work together. They help us answer questions like: How will we treat one another? How will we engage with challenging content? What will we do if we disagree" (ASCD.org)? "Collectively deciding on norms and making commitments for how ...[we]... interact with one another is an important step towards creating a respectful, supportive, and productive class learning environment" (Stanford University).

  1. be understanding of each other's personal learning journeys
  2. what's said in the room stays in the room
  3. be civil and respectful
  4. no gatekeeping - share with each other

We agree to uphold these group norms and address with each other in the moment when a norm is broken.
