Reflections on the Boston Marathon Bombing After Ten Years and a Quest for Healing Across Seven Continents
Robert O’Donnell, SAC ’16
Robert O’Donnell, SAC ’16 (BA Biology) currently works as a flight paramedic at DHART at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. In the wake of the trauma he experienced as a freshman Saint Anselm runner during the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, Bobby resolved to run a marathon on all seven continents. His various experiences across the globe and the good people he met wherever he traveled, restored his love of running and helped him work through PTSD. Bobby discovered in his quest the important positive correlation that exercise and nature have on mental health, and chronicled his experiences and reflections in a book called Running Wild, A Quest for Healing Across 7 Continents.
Bobby will reflect upon the lessons he has learned since the 2013 bombing. A formal student response to Bobby’s reflections will be offered by a Saint Anselm Moslem student.
