AC411 Accounting Research Seminar: Company & SEC Reports

Finding 10-Ks and Annual Reports

Federal law requires publicly traded companies to submit annual (Form 10-K), quarterly (Form 10-Q), and current (Form 8-K) reports on an ongoing basis to ensure that certain information is disclosed to the public.  For more details visit the SEC website.  Also check out their How to Read a 10-K page for a detailed description of the form.

There are several ways to find a company's 10-K, including:

  1. Search the EDGAR database by company name or ticker symbol to access a complete list of files submitted by a company to the SEC. (See A Guide for Investors for tips on searching the EDGAR database.)
  2. Look for "Corporate" or "Investor" links on a company website. From there you may find links to annual reports and SEC filings.  Sometimes the information is buried on the website.  You could also try searching under About Us or Contact Us.
  3. Search Mergent Online (below). Mergent will give you access to documents filed with the SEC as recent as in the last 90 days.
