Username:  5-15 characters (SAC username usually works)

Password:  7-15 characters 

• Mixed upper-and lowercase letters
• At least one non-alphabet character, (number, dash, underscore, period, etc.)

Confirm your registration within 48 hours by clicking the link sent to your email.

This guide will introduce you to using SciFinder for performing literature searches in the fields of chemistry and biochemistry.  For structure searching using SciFinder, please contact a member of the Chemistry Department, or see SciFinderⁿ's short training video.

SciFinder is the main research tool for chemistry; it's up-to-date and extensive.  It is:

• A reference database for chemistry and related science literature, including journal articles, dissertations, and patents.  (It links out to full text, but does not include the full text itself.)

• A substance database, with information including chemical structures, chemical names, properties, and more

• A reaction database, with chemical reaction information including reaction schemes, experimental procedures, conditions, yields, and more.

SciFinderⁿ is the new SciFinder platorm -- along with a new interface, the search also works a bit differently. You can access it with your same SciFinder username and password.
