This software program allows you to import citations from our research databases and then easily create in-text citations and bibliographies in your research papers, in the style of your choosing (MLA, APA, Turabian, etc.).
To obtain a copy of EndNote on CD (for either PC or Mac), contact the IT Help Desk located in Geisel Library.
Note: There is a web-based version available called EndNote Web. This enables you to store and manage citations from any computer, not just the one where you have installed the desktop version of EndNote. Most of the features available in EndNote are also available in EndNote Web. To set up your online account, visit the EndNote Web website from any on-campus computer.
For help with EndNote features, see our User's Guide.
In the Collect tab in EndNote Web, you can add citations in two ways. To manually enter a new reference, click the New Reference link, enter the item's citation information into the form, and press the Save button.
To transfer citations from research databases into EndNote Web, you will usually need to save them into a text file (typically in RIS format) and import them into EndNote Web. This process involves the following steps, with details varying by database.
Note that in EBSCO databases (Academic Search Premier, PsycINFO, SocINDEX, etc.), you have the option of doing a Direct Export to EndNote Web. After adding items to the folder in EBSCO, open the folder, select the desired citations, click Export, and choose the "Direct Export to EndNote Web" option. The citations will automatically transfer into the Unfiled folder of the My References tab in EndNote Web.
