Maps: Map Collection

How to find maps in Geisel Library and online

Intro

Geisel Library has a collection of maps that are printed on single loose sheets of paper.

To search this collection, do an Advanced Keyword search in Library Catalog for the name of the country or state of interest, and limit the Location to "Maps (Lower Level)".

Maps are stored in the flat map cabinets on the Lower Level near the Newspaper Shelves. Large maps produced by the US government are in their own cabinet.

Topographic Maps

Published by the United States Geological Survey, these contour maps show elevation, natural features, and some physical features.  The maps are done at various scales, with the most detailed being the 7.5 minute quadrangle maps that cover a patch of land that's 7.5 minutes of latitude by 7.5 minutes of longitude.  For online versions, visit the US Topo website.
