After determining the type of source, let's determine that the purpose of each one.

Remember, there are three main purposes for different sources types:

1. Academic/scholarly sources written for scholars and researchers by scholars and researchers

2. Popular sources written to entertain or inform the general public 

3. Student papers written by students for a class or their degree (These are written in a scholarly setting but are technically not considered to be a scholarly source)
