Types of Sources Survey

When determining if a source of information is appropriate to use and/or how to use it, consider why you need the information. Then evaluate the purpose, audience, and characteristics of the source. Use it only if it matches your information need.  And if you decide to use it, the context in which you use it is important.  You will want to use academic sources and your field research as the main sources of support for your argument, and official statistics can also be used for this purpose.  Other types of sources can be used to provide facts, background information, or evidence of a particular perspective on an issue.
