      Introduction

Use this guide if you're new to conducting-college level research or need some guidance with getting started.  It breaks down the research process into seven steps and gives you helpful examples, resources, and tips at each step along the way.

      1. Define your topic
      2. Find background information
      3. Find books
      4. Find articles
      5. Find Internet resources
      6. Evaluate your sources
      7. Cite your sources

If you need help at any stage, use the Ask a Librarian info at left to get in touch with a Reference Librarian.  We can help you focus your topic, develop a good search strategy, find resources, and cite your sources properly.
